Similar to the cherimoya is the Sugar Apple (Annona squamosa), often known as a sweetsop or custard apple. The tree that produces this fruit is native to the tropics and is popular with landscape designers in Central America and along the southern coast of Florida.

The creamy flesh has the consistency of a custard, like the one Grandma used to make, but this tastes much better because it has a hint of a minty finish. Sorry Granny, we still love you.
