History of pinkglow pineapples
Del Monte Fresh Produce, a multinational grower and distributor, developed the first PinkglowTM pineapples in 2020 and made them available to the public for the first time in October of that year. The idea for the pink-fleshed species came up in 2005, and it took almost a decade to bring it to fruition.
The FDA reviewed PinkglowTM pineapples in 2016, and they were found to be just as safe and all-natural as traditional, yellow-fleshed pineapples. And the Costa Rican government has given Del Monte the go light to export the variety in 2019.
